I am delighted to formally announce the official launch of the website for the Law Graduates Alumni Association of the Open University Sri Lanka. As a participant in the second cohort of the Law Graduates Program and the inaugural president of the LGAAOUSL, I take great pride and satisfaction in the current state of our association.
The Law Graduate program at the Open University, established in 1984 under the esteemed guidance of Professor Sawithri Goonasekera, has emerged as a prominent center for distance education and lifelong learning. Since its inception, a significant number of legal professionals have successfully completed the program and are presently dispersed across Sri Lanka and various international locations. The central objective of our association is to foster a sense of camaraderie among fellow graduates.
Our mission has met with notable success thus far, albeit with inherent challenges in harmonizing diverse perspectives. Nonetheless, we have navigated these hurdles, progressing steadfastly while ensuring due regard for the majority’s viewpoints. Consequently, the present milestone signifies a momentous stride towards the realization of our collective vision. By means of this website, we aspire to effectively convene Law graduates scattered worldwide, enabling the celebration of the profound bonds of unity and brotherhood that exist within our community.

We, the Graduates of Law from the Open University of Sri Lanka, proudly announce the establishment of the Law Graduates Alumni Association of the Open University of Sri Lanka (LGAAOUSL). We extend a warm and enthusiastic invitation to all our fellow Alumni to join us under the LGAAOUSL banner.
The primary objective of LGAAOUSL is to create a strong network among the accomplished law graduates of the Open University of Sri Lanka, both within the Country and Worldwide. Our time at the University has significantly contributed to shaping our identities, and by becoming members of LGAAOUSL, you will have the opportunity to connect with fellow members who possess a wealth of experience and expertise in various fields.
Membership in LGAAOUSL offers Law Graduates a valuable platform to engage, foster, and enhance relationships between the University and its Alumni, as well as amongst the Alumni themselves. It provides a forum for addressing matters of common interest to the Legal Profession in Sri Lanka. Additionally, LGAAOUSL organizes an exciting array of events and exclusive programs tailored to the needs and aspirations of its Members, assisting them in achieving both Professional and personal goals. Our website serves as a hub of current legal information, showcasing our activities and providing resources beneficial to both members and the General Public.

In a society where people are segmented and hierarchically divided, the Law transcends boundaries of class, social status, religion serving as a source of assistance for all individuals in need.The Open University of Sri Lanka has significantly contributed by offering us the chances to wholeheartedly embrace this mission.
Today, I feel a deep sense of pride as a lawyer who has graduated from this prestigious institution. The establishment of the Law Graduates Alumni Association of the Open University of Sri Lanka in 2021, led by Mr. Crisho Jayarathna, a senior lawyer and the current President, along with the committed endeavors of other office bearers, the Working Committee, the Executive Committee, and all those involved, represents a remarkable accomplishment.
Developing this web page marks a positive stride in our journey, enabling us to foster a sense of fellowship among lawyers affiliated with the Open University, both domestically and internationally. This platform will facilitate access to updates regarding the Association’s activities and allow remote participation for all of our colleagues. Through our affiliation with the Open University, we have embraced a societal role that reflects its elevated stature.
